The Fort Myers Police Department provides a great training ground for a young officer. I have learned and developed a lot of new skills. A typical work day involves assessing and resolving conflict with citizens and employees. I also handled complaints against officers, along with officer discipline. When I worked at FMPD 1973-1979 I was a civilian employee most of the time. I had advancements but one advance I was promised was given to someone who lied on her application, I did not. She got her GED diploma same night I got mine but I had quit by then. I never told my supervisor, wish I had, that she had lied. I am not like that. People who are well liked are promoted while the people who actually care about the job and care about solid training, solid management structure, and advancement are looked over.
