Individuals start on a temp-to-hire basis, working up to 450 hours, while supervisors observe and decide whether to keep the employee. Founded in 2009, the Plover company produces a variety of frozen foods including retail product lines for companies like Fazoli's and Chili's. The company started from somewhat humble beginnings, as founder Jay Arend struggled to find start-up funding from banks during the Great Recession. Working with CAP Services, the private, nonprofit community action agency, and receiving funding from Portage County and the village of Plover, Arend finally put together the $11. 5 million needed to get the 100, 000-square-foot factory started. Today, Intevation president Mark Arend said the company will reach $30 million in 2014 sales, with a projected increase to $45 million in 2015.
